Description
The Langer-EMV EFM 04 E-Field Meter is a precision instrument for measuring fast transient and RF electric fields in EMC and ESD testing environments. With a frequency range of 1 MHz to 3 GHz, it enables accurate evaluation of field strength and distribution during development, validation, and troubleshooting.
In practice, ESD Guns customers use the EFM 04 to measure and verify electric fields generated by ESD simulators, particularly in setups based on IEC 61000-4-2. Engineers position the probe near the device under test or along the discharge path to evaluate field strength and distribution during ESD events, ensuring consistent and repeatable test conditions prior to compliance testing.
The EFM 04 is also widely used for calibration and validation tasks, helping confirm that ESD generators are operating within expected parameters. It allows users to compare field levels across different setups, optimize test configurations, and troubleshoot unexpected test results.
In R&D environments, the EFM 04 supports early-stage analysis of field behavior, enabling engineers to identify issues related to shielding, layout, and component sensitivity. Its compact design and reliable performance make it a practical tool for engineers working in EMC, compliance, and test laboratories.
