250P50 Discharge Network for Wearable Electronics

    Description

In general, a wearable device should be tested according to the requirements for table top equipment. For additional experimental ESD testing on wearable devices, the recommended energy storage capacitor and discharge resistor are 200 pF and 50 Ω, respectively, to reproduce the most severe discharge current condition from a wearable device on the waist.

Fundamentally, the phenomenon of ESD experienced by wearable devices attached to a charged human body are similar to a charged device model attached to the human body. The wearable device is charged with a test voltage applied from a 200 pF storage capacitor and a 50 Ω discharge resistor in series, which is connected to the RGP using a high-voltage relay.
